As Foreign Minister Marise Payne was preparing to meet with Chinese government officials in Beijing, Western countries have led a blast of criticism over China's suspected detention camps that activists say may hold a million Uighurs and other Muslims.


China says the accusations are baseless. 

Before leaving for Beijing, Senator Payne had said she intended to raise the topic in her talks with the Chinese government.
