EVFTA is considered one of the most comprehensive and ambitious trade and investment agreements the EU has ever signed with a developing country.


In the context of deepening economic integration, the resonance effect of this agreement is very great, contributing to the economic development and renovation process of Vietnamese enterprises to help businesses, investors of Vietnam is growing in markets where both sides have FTAs.

On 1 December 2015, EVFTA officially concluded the negotiation and on 1/20/2016 the agreement was announced. On June 26, a new step in EVFTA was agreed.

Accordingly, EVFTA is split into two Agreements, one for trade and one for investment. On 26 June, the two sides officially announced the completion of a legal review of the Trade Agreement. However, with the Investment Protection Treaty (now called IPA), the two sides have just concluded the initial discussions.

Dr. Pham Chi Dung, chairman of the Independent Journalists' Association in Vietnam, commented on whether the negotiation was approved.
