1.2m trees planted for National Tree Day

Planet Ark says it's planted more than 22 million trees over the past 20 years.

Around 1.2 million trees will be planted across Australia on the 20th anniversary of National Tree Day.

Planet Ark says this year's tally is expected to bring the total number of trees planted over the last two decades to more than 22 million.

Around 3,000 tree planting events are being held on Sunday to get communities to connect with and care for their local environment.
