15-month NRL pay negotiations drag on

A resolution to the NRL's pay negotiations won't be reached until at least next week despite four days of meetings.

The NRL's 15-month pay negotiations will run into at least the second week of the finals, with the latest discussions ending on Tuesday in a stalemate.

Representatives from the Rugby League Players' Association (RLPA) and NRL have been in meetings since Thursday, airing their differences over collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations.

While some progress has been made, both parties will work on their respective positions before meeting again midway through next week.

The push for a revenue-share model remains the main issue between the two sides.

While it's believed the NRL is willing to offer a share of forecast revenue for the five-year life of the CBA, the debate centres on what will be made available to the players' funds for anything that exceeds expectations.

Integrity and commercial arrangements are also seen as major stumbling blocks before the completion of the five-year CBA.

Players are still not ruling out boycotting the Dally M medal and other grand-final week events, however that is appearing less likely with both sides walking away from the latest four days of meetings confident negotiations are moving forward.

The negotiations are unlikely to affect the proposed 2018 salary-cap figure of $9.4 million, which was agreed to unanimously last month by the 16 clubs.
