The new five dollar banknote, which be will be rolled out from Thursday, has a flashier design, will be more tactile and has a boost in security features.
The "world-first" security measure will help prevent counterfeiting into the future, the Reserve Bank of Australia said in a statement on Thursday.
The note, which features the Prickly Moses wattle and the Eastern Spinebill, also includes a clear, top-to-bottom window and a number of dynamic elements that change as the banknote is tilted.
While the colour, size and people portrayed on each note remains the same, the new series will also include tactile features to help those who are blind or vision impaired distinguish between each banknote denomination.
The five dollar note is the first in the new series to be released, with other upgraded denominations set to follow.
