A bottle of wine made in 1774 has reportedly sold for 103,700 euros ($A161,431) at auction in France.
The bottle of Vin Jaune (yellow wine) from the Jura region was made by winemaker Anatoile Vercel when King Louis XVI was on the throne, according to news agency AFP.
It was sold alongside two other bottles made in the same year, which fetched 76,250 euros and 73,200 euros.
"I never thought the bottles would sell for so much," Lons-le-Saunier auctioneer Brigitte Fenaux told AFP. "The last record, in 2011, was for 57,000 euros."
The buyers were Canadians and somebody bidding on behalf of some Americans, she said.
The bottles had been kept in a cellar by Vercel's descendants and taken out for the auction.
A tasting of the same Vin Jaune was organised in 1994 by 24 experts, who rated it a 9.4 out of 10 and said it tasted of "nuts, spices, curry, cinnamon, vanilla and dried fruits."
