3 Doors Down bassist arrested

Todd Harrell has reportedly been arrested after police found him passed out in his car on a road in Mississippi, US.

Rocker Todd Harrell has been arrested for driving under the influence, according to reports.

The 3 Doors Down bassist was taken into custody on Tuesday in D'Iberville, Mississippi, after police found him passed out in his car at a street intersection, celebrity news site TMZ.com reported.

Law enforcement officials believe he was under the influence of drugs.

"On arrival our officers made contact with the driver and there were signs of his being impaired," D'Iberville police chief Wayne Payne told the Associated Press.

"We don't know what the substance is at the time. We sent the sample on to the crime lab for testing."

The 42-year-old has been released on a $US1789 ($A1,992.98) cash bond.

This is the second DUI arrest in D'Iberville for Harrell since July 2012, when he was detained after he failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into a pick-up truck.

Harrell is also facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide by intoxication and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, related to a car crash last April in Tennessee that resulted in the death of another motorist.
