67 allegations of child abuse at Nauru

Transfield Services has received scores of allegations of sexual and child abuse at the Nauru detention centre.

Nauru detention centre operator Transfield Services has received 67 allegations of child abuse, 30 of which are against staff at the facility.

Transfield says 33 asylum seekers claim they have been raped or sexually assaulted at the centre, in answers on notice to a Senate inquiry.

Five more have reported being asked for sexual favours in exchange for contraband items.
