7th Heaven re-runs pulled off air in US

Re-runs of 7th Heaven have been cancelled in the US as the show's star Stephen Collins is embroiled in child molestation allegations.

Two cable television networks have cancelled scheduled re-runs of Stephen Collins' beloved family series 7th Heaven.

The networks announced the cancellations after details of molestation allegations against Collins were reported by celebrity website TMZ.

New York police say they have an open investigation into allegations that Collins molested a teenage girl in the early 1970s.

Police spokesman Stephen David says the complaint was filed in 2012 and accused Collins of forcing a then-14-year-old girl to commit a lewd act in 1972. David says the case remains open, but no charges have been filed.

The allegations first surfaced in divorce proceedings between Collins and his estranged wife, actress Faye Grant, who said in documents filed last year that her husband admitted to the molestation.

Collins' lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan did not return phone messages seeking comment Tuesday.

Hollywood trade outlets reported that Collins had resigned a leadership post with the union SAG-AFTRA and he had been fired from the movie Ted 2.
