Proven match-winners Thomas Broich and Besart Berisha are excited about having one more game together for the A-League All Stars against Italian football champions Juventus this weekend.
The two imports have been an integral part of Brisbane Roar's success in recent seasons, but their productive partnership appeared over when Albanian international striker Berisha signed for Melbourne Victory.
That they have been reunited for Sunday's game at ANZ Stadium came as no surprise to German midfielder Broich, the reigning A-League player of the season.
"No, we always had that in the back of our minds, that we're going to get this last hitout," Broich said of their selection in the All Stars squad.
"I love it. I just know his runs inside out, so it helps.
"With the team here, we don't know each other too well, with players from every different club in this country.
"At least with 'Bessie' I have that sort of understanding so that should come in handy."
Berisha was equally happy to have one more chance to play alongside his old Brisbane buddy.
"Thomas and me, we understand (each other) really well. Our relationship is great," Berisha said.
"I'm really looking forward to playing with Thomas. I'm very thankful for what he's done for me.
"He's a great person and I'm very happy to have one more game with him."
One of the few Germans to have played in the A-League, Broich said there had been quite a bit of recent interest from compatriots.
"I actually get contacted quite a lot and even at the Roar, we came close to signing one or two Germans but they decided to join other clubs," Broich said.
With Germany winning the recent World Cup, Broich has bragging rights over his A-League colleagues.
"It makes it easier for me to argue with the boys because we all have different philosophies when it comes to football," Broich said.
"But I have the killer argument at the moment!"
The commitment to attacking football of All Stars and Adelaide coach Josep Gombau has gone down well with prolific goal poacher Berisha.
"I love his thinking about the game and his style," Berisha said.
"It's great attacking football and hopefully it will be good for us on Sunday."
