The cheetah cub, named Ruuxa, was nominated as a Safari Park ambassador after he was rejected by his mother to be raised by zoo keepers.

To prepare for the tough job the staff gave him a buddy, proving that cats and dogs can get along.

A 7-week-old Rhodesian ridgeback puppy named Raina has, according to zookeepers, acted as a therapeutic influence on Ruuxa.

Zookeepers said the body language of dogs let the cheetah know there's nothing to fear, keeping the cat calm.

The puppy will reportedly be raised with the cheetah, serving as his lifelong companion.
