NSW Labor leader Luke Foley says his federal counterpart Bill Shorten is welcome "every day and every week" of the state election campaign.
Appearing alongside Mr Shorten in Sydney on Friday, Mr Foley said the two "stand for the same things in life".
In a dig at his Liberal opponent, he said Premier Mike Baird and under-fire Prime Minister Tony Abbott were "peas in a pod".
Mr Baird this week distanced himself from the embattled Abbott government, insisting that the March 28 election would be fought on state issues.
Mr Abbott, who survived a leadership spill motion on Monday, has been blamed for contributing to his party's walloping in the recent Queensland election.
