Prime Minister Tony Abbott insists Australia has a good story to tell on climate change as he faces a likely hostile reception from Pacific Island leaders.
Mr Abbott told reporters in Port Moresby he will be reassuring leaders at the Pacific Islands Forum that Australia was taking climate change action seriously.
Pacific leaders are pushing for the forum to back action that would limit a global warming temperature increase of 1.5 degrees, but Australia and New Zealand want it to be a two-degree target and are unlikely to give ground.
