Australia's unemployment remained steady at 5.4 per cent in January, official ABS figures show.

The long-term unemployed would receive a $6500 bonus if they can find and keep a job for two years, under a coalition government.

Unemployed people aged between 18 and 30 who have been out of work for more than 12 months will receive $2500 for keeping a job for a year.

If they remain employed for two years they will receive another $4000, the Australian Financial Review reports.

People receiving unemployment benefits will be offered $6000 to move to a regional area for work and those who make the reverse move will receive $3000.
