Prime Minister Tony Abbott has welcomed Barack Obama's plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants.
The US President has asked environmental authorities to set nationwide standards for emissions.
"The kind of direct action measures that we have seen from President Obama very much accord with the kind of direct action measures that this government is putting in place," Mr Abbott told reporters in Adelaide on Wednesday.
