Abbott wishes departing Greens leader well

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says he's always had good and cordial relations with outgoing Greens leader Christine Milne.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has acknowledged the distinguished record and commitment of departing Australian Greens leader Christine Milne.

Despite "far more often than not" being on the opposite side of political arguments, Mr Abbott told reporters in Perth he had always enjoyed good and cordial relations with the senator.

The prime minister wished Senator Milne well as she prepares to leave parliament to spend more time with her family and a new role as grandmother.
