Australian Greens leader Christine Milne says the first 100 days of the Abbott federal government have been "secretive, cruel and chaotic".

On the Greens' list of what it describes as Prime Minister Tony Abbott's 40 failures is legislation to abolish carbon pricing and climate agencies, cutting health and education funding, "cruelty" to asylum seekers and putting mining interests ahead of the environment.

"The Abbott government is a secretive, cruel and chaotic government," Senator Milne said in a statement on Monday.

"The Australian people didn't sign up to this, and the Greens will stand against it."

The Greens also point to the government's "failure" to save jobs at Holden and Qantas.
