Abbott's popularity rises in NSW: Newspoll

An analysis of Newspolls over the last three months has found that prime minister Tony Abbott's popularity has increased in his home state of NSW.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott's popularity in his home state of NSW has hit an 18-month high.

Support for opposition leader Bill Shorten however has fallen in every state, according to an analysis of Newspolls conducted for The Australian newspaper over the last three months.

The June quarter analysis published on Tuesday, shows that in two-party-preferred terms, the coalition and Labor are tied at 50-50 in NSW and WA, and the opposition leads in Victoria, Queensland and South Australia

Mr Abbott meanwhile had his highest ranking as preferred prime minister in NSW, where his satisfaction rating jumped 10 points.
