A Liberal backbencher hopes the ABC boss uses a keynote address to announce more resources for regional broadcasting and a plan to overcome so-called "institutionalised bias".

Outgoing ABC managing director Mark Scott will address the National Press Club on Wednesday.

Former minister Eric Abetz says he hopes Mr Scott will also tackle what he considers "lefty love-in" mindset that has taken hold of the organisation, before he leaves.
