Abetz calls for genuine workplace talks

The federal government has welcomed a draft report by the Productivity Commission into the workplace system.

Employment Minister Eric Abetz says he hopes unions and businesses have a "genuine conversation" about proposed changes to workplace laws.

The Productivity Commission has released a draft report following 255 submissions to its inquiry into the workplace system.

"Despite a deliberately misleading campaign by the ACTU which commenced before this review even began, the draft report concludes that penalty rates and the minimum wage should continue to be determined by the Fair Work Commission," Senator Abetz said in a statement.
