Lives and homes may be at risk as a series of bushfires burn out-of-control in the southern region of Western Australia.
Residents in Albany have been issued an immediate bushfire warning, with an official alert to act now to survive with lives and homes under threat.
The warning has been upgraded from a watch and act alert on Thursday evening and affects residents of the Redmond, Marbelup, McKail, Elleker, Napier and Torbay suburbs.
"You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warning said on Friday.
ABC reporter Kit Mochan has been sharing images and video of the fires.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services Superintendent Wayne Green said the number of fires in the area was causing trouble for crews.
"Resources are absolutely stretched to the point where some of the fires that are coming in and being reported aren't even getting a response," he told ABC radio on Friday.
Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said he is shocked by the scale of the fire.
"I've never seen anything like it … it's just absolute mayhem," he told the ABC.
An evacuation centre has been opened at the Albany Aquatic Centre with around 40 people taking shelter there, the Albany City Council said.
The fire started near the intersection of Redmond-Hay River Road and Pikes Road in Redmond.
