The sister of Tara Brown's accused killer has vowed to help raise the 24-year-old's daughter.
Ms Brown died on Tuesday after sustaining horrific injuries during an alleged assault by her ex-partner Lionel Patea on a suburban Gold Coast street.
Patea's sister Jessica Palmer has written of the difficulty in comprehending the tragedy.
"How will I tell (her) that she won't be going home to her mummy or her home?" Ms Palmer wrote.
"We will do everything possible to ensure (she) has the opportunities to become a hard-working, strong, moral, kind and respectful young lady."
Ms Palmer has also used her Instagram page to call for increased awareness of domestic violence in Australia.
"As a nation we need to do more," Ms Palmer wrote.
"We need to be better neighbours to each other and speak up on this issue."
Ms Palmer's words were one of several tributes to Ms Brown, with a candlelit vigil on Thursday evening held on the Molendinar street where she was allegedly attacked by Patea.
A fundraising page to assist Ms Brown's family has blown past its initial target of $5000, with $32,370 raised by midday on Friday.
Queensland Reds rugby union players Chris Kuridrani and Samu Kerevi also had Ms Brown's name and messages in tribute written on wrist strapping during last night's National Rugby Championship game in Brisbane.
Their Brisbane City teammates joined them by wearing black armbands in their victory over the North Harbour Rays at Ballymore.
Kuridrani played junior representative touch football with Ms Brown in southeast Queensland.
Former Bandido bikie gang member Patea remains in custody at Gold Coast University Hospital after being charged with murder following Ms Brown's death.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court next month.
