ACT residents push for right-to-die laws

Green MLA Shane Rattenbury has started a petition to convince the Commonwealth to lift a ban on territories making laws around euthanasia.

Canberra residents are pushing the federal government to allow them the right to decide how they should die.

Greens MLA Shane Rattenbury has started collecting signatures for a petition that calls on federal parliament to overturn a 1997 law that bans territories from making voluntary euthanasia lawful.

"I am asking the people of the ACT to take a stand with me and demand the commonwealth gives us back our territory rights," he said.
