Activist investors raid AMP

A group of wealthy activist investors carried out a raid on AMP pushing for a cut in costs.

Activist investors including former Patrick Corporation chief executive Chris Corrigan built a stake in AMP last year with a view to shaking up the financial giant.

The group believed the company was in the box seat to take advantage of growth in the wealth management industry but its costs and salaries were excessive, investor Glen Poswell told The Australian newspaper.

It had bought one per cent of AMP in the raid with a view to increasing that past five per cent.
