Unions have welcomed a new Senate inquiry into temporary working visa schemes amid concerns over possible exploitation.
The inquiry was put forward by Labor and the Greens, but it has been criticised by the Coalition and business groups as a waste of Senate resources.
The inquiry will look into local and migrant worker wages, conditions and entitlements.
The President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions Ged Kearney has told Michael Kenny, she believes the Senate inquiry is long overdue.
