Adelaide Brighton predicts steady sales

Adelaide Brighton predicts steady sales in 2015 amid plans to save a further $2 million this year as part of a restructure.

PERTH, May 27 AAP - Construction materials group Adelaide Brighton predicts steady sales this year but says competition is likely to pick up.

The company is making a further $2 million in savings as part of a corporate restructure after booking savings of $4 million for 2014.

It incurred restructuring costs of $5.4 million the previous year.

Adelaide Brighton predicts sales volumes of cement and clinker will be similar to or higher than the three per cent increase achieved in 2014.

Chief executive Martin Brydon said a recent fall in cement sales to a major customer in South Australia were expected to be offset by increased demand.

Lime sales volumes are likely to be similar to or slightly higher than 2014.

"The threat of small scale lime imports in Western Australia and the Northern Territory remains, however the weaker Australian dollar is likely to reduce the competitiveness of these imports," he said.

The company predicts price increases for all products for the first half of 2015 because of strengthening demand and the lower Australian dollar.

Adelaide Brighton shares rose 22 cents, or 4.8 per cent, to close at $4.80.
