Adelaide scientist named state's best

An Adelaide scientist has been named the state's best for his research into groundwater, which has helped battle contamination in developing countries.

An Adelaide university scientist has been named South Australia's best for his research into groundwater contamination.

Flinders University's Professor Craig Simmons took out the SA Scientist of the Year award at the Science Excellence Awards on Thursday night for his research into groundwater movement and contamination.

"Professor Simmons' pioneering research has been applied to contamination in developing countries like Bangladesh," Science Minister Gail Gago said in a statement.
