Members of Adelaide's Ukrainian community have gathered to pray for the victims of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

About 50 churchgoers attended a Catholic mass in Adelaide's south on Sunday.

The service included traditional Ukrainian prayers for the dead, with attendees urged to comfort the family and friends of passengers who lost their lives.

There are currently no South Australian residents named among the 28 Australians confirmed to have been on board MH17.
