AFL Demons re-sign Jesse Hogan

Jesse Hogan has re-signed with Melbourne until the end of the 2017 AFL season.

Exciting young forward Jesse Hogan, whose AFL debut has been delayed by injury, has re-signed with Melbourne until the end of the 2017 season.

Hogan had been contracted for 2014 and 2015 and has agreed to a two-year extension.

The 19-year-old from WAFL club Claremont booted 39 goals for VFL side Casey Scorpions in 2013, winning the team's best and fairest award.

A strongly built 195cm and 101kg forward, Hogan has battled back problems in 2014.

"This year hasn't been ideal for me, not being able to play. I wanted to play a year first before making my decision, but with my back it hasn't turned out that way," Hogan said on Wednesday.

"The time was right just so I can get into next season with confidence, focus on the footy and not have my mind on what I'm doing at the end of the year."

Fremantle and West Coast were also interested in luring the West Australian back to Perth, according to a report on the AFL's website.
