AFL Docker Bennell escapes calf injury

Fremantle midfielder Harley Bennell might play in the WAFL this weekend despite his recent calf scare.

Fremantle midfielder Harley Bennell has escaped injury to his calf, and is a chance to play in the WAFL again this weekend.

Bennell lasted only one quarter for Peel Thunder last Saturday before calf tightness ruled him out for the rest of the match.

The 25-year-old has been plagued by calf injuries since crossing to Fremantle at the end of 2015.

But his latest scare didn't turn out to be an injury, with Bennell still in line to play for Peel Thunder in Saturday's clash with West Perth.

If he plays, it would be Bennell's fifth straight WAFL match, boosting his chances of making an AFL return after Fremantle's upcoming bye.

"Harley had some calf tightness, as was noted in the media," high performance manager Jason Weber said.

"At this stage he's presented to medical staff and he's presented ok so we'll see how he progresses through the week."

Ruckman Aaron Sandilands is a chance to return from concussion for Sunday's clash with Adelaide at Optus Stadium.

But skipper Nat Fyfe will miss the match after failing to have his one-match suspension overturned at the tribunal.

Defender Alex Pearce, who injured his ankle in last week's 61-point loss to Collingwood, is listed as a test.

Brad Hill will miss another one or two weeks with a knee injury, but no timeline has been set on his brother Stephen Hill, who is battling a quad injury.

Ruckman Sean Darcy will miss at least one more week with his knee injury.
