Data-hungry MCG patrons consumed a massive 2.48 terabytes of free WiFi on AFL grand final day, doubling the amount used the previous year.
The 100,021-strong crowd, which witnessed Richmond break its 37-year premiership drought with a 48-point win over Adelaide, also spent a fair chunk of time documenting the historic occasion.
"The most popular activity on our network was clearly the use of social media sites to share content such as photos and videos," an MCG spokesman told AAP on Tuesday.
"Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter were the most heavily used social media platforms."
The network's peak periods for use were during the pre-game entertainment, post-game premiership cup ceremony and subsequent concert by US rock band The Killers.
The 2.48TB data tally, equivalent to 2480 gigabytes, for the venue's free network was double that used during the 2016 AFL grand final between the Western Bulldogs and Sydney, the spokesman confirmed.
