Brisbane's first AFL win of the season might have gone to the heads of their players, defender Darcy Gardiner says.

Brisbane Lions defender Darcy Gardiner admits the battling AFL side might have gotten ahead of themselves after their first win of the season.

Fresh off an upset victory in the Q-Clash last weekend, the Lions were brought back down to earth with a thud after a 53-point loss to the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

It gets no easier for Justin Leppitsch's side with in-form Sydney set to visit the Gabba on Sunday.
