The AFL club confirmed Dumont, 19, was charged over the incident earlier this month.

The two men allegedly threatened a taxi driver and demanded money after he picked them up in the early hours of October 12 in North Terrace.

When the driver refused, one of the men stole a log book and got out of the taxi.

When the driver got out to get his book back, the men allegedly assaulted him and stole money from the taxi before running away.

The victim was not injured, police said.

A 19-year-old Adelaide man was arrested after contacting police following the release of CCTV images of the suspects inside the cab on Monday.

The North Melbourne Football Club said in a statement: "As the matter will now be dealt with through the court, the club will not be making any further comment on the allegations or charges."

Both men have been charged with aggravated robbery and have been bailed to appear in the Holden Hill Magistrates Court on November 25.

Dumont is yet to play a senior game for the Kangaroos.

He played for local Adelaide side Golden Grove before joining SANFL club Norwood.

The utility was a member of the Redlegs' premiership team last season and then North used their second pick to recruit him at No.30 in the national draft.

Dumont played for North's VFL affiliates North Ballarat this year.

"With a full pre-season ahead of him, a strong summer on the track should have Dumont right in the running for a senior debut early in 2015," the Kangaroos said on their website.
