Greater Western Sydney have re-signed key defender Nick Haynes until the end of the 2019 AFL season.

The 24-year-old on Friday agreed to a two-year contract extension.

He joins the likes of Callan Ward, Shane Mumford, Tom Scully and Lachie Whitfield who have recently re-committed to the Giants.

Haynes, who racked up a career-high 25 possessions in Sunday's win over Port Adelaide, joined the club through the 2011 AFL Draft.

"On the field we've taken some big steps forward this year and I'm confident we're heading in the right direction to achieve the ultimate success in the coming years," he said in a statement.
