Gold Coast have opened talks with Sydney's AFL All Australian defender Nick Malceski.
The 30-year-old is an unrestricted free agent and Suns recruiting manager Scott Clayton has confirmed he is their top priority.
Clayton added they have not given Malceski a deadline to decide his future.
"We are talking to Nick and we asked if we could catch up with him after his playing commitments finished, so we're at that stage," Clayton told AFL Trade Radio.
"He's at a fantastic footy club and has had a great career, and he's certainly settled there.
"We'll just have to wait and see.
"It was fruitful, but we'll see how it goes."
