AFP head hopes terror prediction is wrong

AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin says he hopes a prediction from David Kilcullen of inevitable terror attacks in Australia is wrong.

The head of the federal police hopes a prediction by a prominent military strategist of inevitable terror attacks in Australia is wrong.

David Kilcullen has said Australians who believe security agencies can protect them from attacks are living in dreamland.

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin told ABC radio on Friday: "I hope he's wrong ... but of course I can't give a guarantee there won't be further attacks in this country."

But Mr Colvin said he can guarantee police and security partners are working very hard against threats.

"David's a smart man, he has a good analytical mind for what's happening around the world but let's (hope that he's wrong).
