It's estimated that between $700,000 and $1 million is scammed out of West Australians by African fraudsters every month.
Police and government agencies try to warn victims with letters, but recently, the State's police actually travelled to the mining town of Kalgoorlie to warn at least 20 people they were the victims of organised crime.
West Australian correspondent Ryan Emery spoke to detective senior constable Rob Martin from the state's Fraud Squad.
He began by explaining how the victims are scammed.
