After failures we're ready for 'tax time'

Tax commissioner Chris Jordan says the ATO's IT systems have been fully restored after outages in December and February.

Tax office boss Chris Jordan insists the IT systems at the ATO have been fully restored after failures led to processing delays in December and February.

He wants to assure Australians no taxpayer data has been lost and the Australian Tax Office is on track to process returns in the second half of 2017.

"We've already rebuilt our storage system to the latest in world-class standards, replacing the faulty equipment with new technology," Mr Jordan told a Senate hearing in Canberra on Tuesday.
