AGL Energy CEO to retire

AGL Energy chief executive and managing director Michael Fraser has announced a date for his retirement after 30 years with the company.

AGL Energy chief executive Michael Fraser will retire by the end of June, 2015.

Mr Fraser, who completes 30 years service at AGL this month and starts his eighth year as managing director and chief executive officer in October, said it was the right timing for him to step down.

"It has been an absolute privilege to lead the many great people at AGL and see the huge improvements we've made right across the business over the last seven years, in particular, the quality of service we now provide our customers," he said.

The company's board had started a selection process for a replacement and would consider both internal and external candidates, Chairman Jerry Maycock said.
