AGL reshapes exec team

Energy giant AGL is revamping its executive team, with modest job cuts expected to result from the changes.

Energy giant AGL has flagged it will make modest job cuts as part of a revamp of its executive team.

AGL said the company would set up seven core business units within its executive team, with the changes coming into effect on May 1.

"While the restructuring process will deliver cost savings and involve some modest headcount reductions, a large proportion of our operational employees will not be affected," managing director Andy Vesey said.

Mr Vesey said the changes were being made to allow AGL to tackle rapid changes and significant challenges within the energy sector.

He said the selection processes for the new executive roles will start immediately.

As part of the changes, AGL's chief information officer Owen Coppage and its chief economist and head of corporate affairs Paul Simshauser will leave the company.
