Agriculture land register won't be public

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce wants to make sure more information is released publicly about agriculture land ownership despite tax privacy issues.

The federal government's new register of foreign-owned agricultural land will not be made completely public because of tax privacy laws.

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce is keen to deliver on his election promise for more transparency but acknowledges the need to balance privacy issues.

"I want to see more information than what's being delivered at the moment, and I'm going to go about the process of making sure that happens," he said on Thursday.

A summary list of the register is expected to be tabled on July 2.
