Queensland teenager Alyssa Azar departs sunny Toowoomba this week for the frozen peaks of Nepal, as she attempts to become the youngest Australian to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
It will be Alyssa's second attempt, after her first was thwarted last April by an avalanche that killed 16 Sherpa guides.
Undeterred, Alyssa has stuck to her quest, which had its beginnings in 2005 when as an eight-year-old she walked the Kokoda Track, alongside father and professional guide Glenn.
She's speaking with Abby Dinham.
