AirAsia plane has tyre problems

A plane partly owned by AirAsia Philippines had to cancel a flight after developing tyre problems, airline and government officials say.

An AirAsia Zest plane cancelled a flight to Manila after developing a tyre problem in the central Philippine city of Tagbilaran, airline and government officials say.

There were 178 passengers and six crew members on board.

The airline is partly owned by AirAsia Philippines.

It comes as rescuers continue to search for a missing AirAsia plane that disappeared on a flight from Indonesia to Singapore with 162 on board.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines spokesman Eric Apolonio said at least four domestic flights to and from Tagbilaran were cancelled on Sunday because of the incident.

The Airbus A320 aircraft's tyre was later fixed, allowing it to resume its flight to the Philippine capital on Monday morning.

No details were given about the problem.
