Broadcaster Alan Jones is angry at SBS - and not just for its controversial new documentary, Struggle Street.

The program, which follows the lives of residents in the western Sydney suburb of Mount Druitt, has been described as poverty porn and more than 1500 people have signed a petition to have the show canned.

Jones says SBS shouldn't be spending taxpayers' money on such a program, which he says presents "a rubbish view of a community". But that's not the only issue he has with the show.

"By the way, they appropriated my phrase, I'm the coiner of Struggle Street," he told Seven on Wednesday.

SBS is going ahead with the broadcast on Wednesday night, saying it's an important story to tell.

About a dozen Blacktown Council garbage trucks will blockade SBS's Artarmon offices in Sydney on Wednesday to express anger over the three-part show.
