Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese says he "absolutely" supports Bill Shorten as opposition leader heading into the next election.

Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese has ruled out a leadership challenge against Bill Shorten.

Mr Albanese says he "absolutely" supports the opposition leader heading into the next federal election, despite Mr Shorten having this week admitted lying to media about a 2013 meeting with Kevin Rudd.

"We have one opposition leader, and it's Bill Shorten," Mr Albanese told the Nine Network on Friday.
