Albers resigns as Caterham team principal

Christijan Alberts, the team principal at Caterham, has resigned his position at the Formula One team.

Christijan Albers has resigned as team principal at Caterham and is replaced by assistant Manfredi Ravetto, the Formula One team says.

Albers said on Sunday in a team statement after the Italian Grand Prix that "due to private reasons and in order to be able to spend more time with my family, I will resign from my position as CEO of Caterham F1 Team. I wish the team all the best in the future."

The former F1 driver Albers of the Netherlands had been on the job since July after the team switched ownership.

"Christijan has been an asset to the team since the moment he joined," Ravetto said.

"It's been a challenging last few months, but we have moved forward together and we want to thank him for his hard work and commitment to the team."

Caterham drivers Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson placed 17th and 19th, respectively, on Sunday in Monza.

They rank last in the constructors' list with zero points.
