Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese has stuck the boot into his outspoken Greens opponent who is trying to unseat him from the Sydney electorate of Grayndler.

Mr Albanese warns that Jim Casey sees protest as an end in itself in an opinion piece penned for the Daily Telegraph.

The Greens are not putting forward solutions to challenges confronting the nation, he says.

Mr Albanese says the Greens want to shut Sydney Airport and oppose the construction of Badgerys Creek airport, both of which would create jobs for Sydney.

"They would leave the global city of Sydney without any aviation capacity," Mr Albanese said.

"That is simply absurd. It cannot be taken seriously."
