Richmond key defender Alex Rance has capped a brilliant year by winning his first club best and fairest award.

Richmond star defender Alex Rance has won his first club best and fairest award.

Rance took out the Jack Dyer Medal with 76 votes from Dustin Martin on 60 and Brett Deledio on 54.

Anthony Miles finished in fourth place with 50 votes, while star forward Jack Riewoldt was fifth on 48 votes.

Rance, who also earned All-Australian selection for the second consecutive year, re-signed with Richmond until the end of 2019 in July.
