Veteran prop Ben Alexander wants to remain in Super Rugby with the Brumbies next year despite being affected by the ARU's moratorium on new contracts.
The 32-year-old former Wallaby is in reach of becoming the ACT-based franchise's most-capped player this season.
He plans to continue his career in 2018, whether it be for a 10th season in Canberra or elsewhere.
"I'll still keep playing rugby. I still haven't sorted out where but I have no plans to retire any time soon," Alexander said.
"I still feel there's a lot I can give back to the Brumbies and Australian rugby so I'm keen to stay."
Alexander is set to claim his 139th Brumbies cap on Friday night against the Lions as he edges closer to George Smith's club record of 142.
"It does feel like I've been playing a while now but the body's really good," Alexander said.
"A couple of niggles but nothing too major. I still love it, still enjoy it and hopefully got a few (games) left in me."
The ARU has directed clubs not to open contract talks with players until the future of the Super Rugby competition is decided, with either the Western Force or Melbourne Rebels to be cut for next season.
Alexander, like most involved in the game, had expected the SANZAAR mess would be sorted out by now, but he understands the delay.
"Brumbies and all the provinces have got to slow things down and wait to see where everything falls," he said.
"We understand that they are really really important decisions that need to be made and a lot of talk that needs to happen before they make their final decision.
"We just need to be patient and wait."
