Australian swim star Alicia Coutts is set to swim on to the Rio Olympics, and it's all thanks to her wedding venue being booked out.

Coutts had initially planned to marry her fiance Steve this year, with the pair floating the prospect of having kids next year.

But after failing to secure their preferred wedding venue for this year, Coutts will tie the knot in September 2015.

And given the Rio Olympics is less than 11 months after that, Coutts says she's likely to put off kids until after the Games.

"I'm not 100 per cent saying I'm going to Rio. But seeing as my wedding is now in September 2015, there is a good chance I'll swim on to Rio," Coutts said on Thursday.

"I know for a lot of other swimmers, when they know it's their last competition, they give it everything they have and finish on a real high.

"That's what I'd like to do - finish on a real high knowing that I gave it everything I had because it was a last hurrah.

"But my results will all depend on what I'm capable of and what the world's capable of at the same time.

"If I didn't go to Rio, I'd still be really happy with what I've achieved at an Olympic level."

Coutts won a gold, three silvers and a bronze medal at the 2012 London Games, but considered quitting the sport shortly after.

However, an eight-week break from the pool gave her time to refresh, and the 26-year-old was rewarded for her perseverance with a haul of five silver medals at last year's World Championships in Barcelona.

The butterfly and freestyle star will return to the pool on Friday night for the Aquatic Super Series in Perth.

The event, in its second year, will pit Australia's best swimmers against the might of South Africa, Japan, China and Brazil.

Other Australian stars in action include world champions James Magnussen, Christian Sprenger and Cate Campbell.

Coutts said she was looking forward to life after the pool once her career came to an end.

"I'm very much a home body. I hate going away - it's really draining," Coutts said.

"People find that funny given what I do. But having done it for so long, you get a bit over it.

"I would very much like to stay at home and do nothing."
